Y7 Literacy and Numeracy Catch Up Report
The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives schools additional funding (£500 per child) to support year 7 pupils who do not achieve at least level 4 in reading and/or maths at the end of key stage 2.
Clearly in the context of our young people’s learning and cognition at The Cedar School this attainment criteria would not be appropriate but we still use the funding to ensure transition from Y6 through to Y7 is smooth, effective and successful for children
In the academic year 2014-2015 The Cedar School received the Year 7 catch up premium for only 1 child.
The allocation was spent delivering an extended pattern of transition visits to school before the start of the year. Once established at The Cedar School the funding was used for key worker time for learning, family support and assessment as well as some 1:1 teaching time.
Particular focus was given to Reading and PHSE support.
This funding was successful with 2 sub levels of progress being made in reading, writing and maths.
Year 7 literacy and numeracy catch-up premium planned 2015-2016
