What a fantastic SPORTS DAY we had (and the sun shone!) - Thank you all for your wonderful support

Have a wonderful half term too - We are 'back in business' for the Summer Term on Monday 3rd June

Congratulations go to Sarah Kitcher who now represents our families, along with Tor Price as your Parent/Carer Governor

Finally, please also be aware that the consultation period in relation to the Review around SEND provision in the City is approaching. There is a really useful summary report of the SEND findings in the City at www.southampton.gov.uk/localoffer . It is a really important issue and therefore, it would be massively appreciated if you could get involved with the consultation and put your views across, once the proposals are available and fully formed.

Y7 Literacy and Numeracy Catch Up Report

Year 7 literacy and numeracy catch-up Premium Grant

The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives schools additional funding (£500 per child) to support year 7 pupils who do not achieve at least level 4 in reading and/or math's at the end of key stage 2.

Clearly in the context of our young people’s learning and cognition at The Cedar School this attainment criteria would not be appropriate but we still use the funding to ensure transition from Y6 through to Y7 is smooth, effective and successful for children

In the academic year 2014-2015 The Cedar School received the Year 7 catch up premium for only 1 child.

The allocation was spent delivering an extended pattern of transition visits to school before the start of the year. Once established at The Cedar School the funding was used for key worker time for learning, family support and assessment as well as some 1:1 teaching time.

Particular focus was given to Reading and PHSE support.

This funding was successful with 2 sub levels of progress being made in reading, writing and maths.

Year 7 literacy and numeracy catch-up premium planned 2015-2016

In the academic year 2015 - 2016 The Cedar School is expected to receive the Year 7 catch up premium for 7 children.
