Hello from Cedar Weekly Emails

Hello From Cedar

It has been another busy week with lots of learning and Christmas activities taking place across the school.  Our Santa's Christmas Grotto in school opened this week and children have been enjoying spending time in there. Santa himself will be in his Grotto for the Christmas Extravaganza  .

Personal Message From Neil
Next week will be my last week at The Cedar School.  I hope to be able to say 'thank you and good wishes' in person to many of you at the Christmas Extravaganza on Tuesday or at my 'Goodbye Neil Afternoon Tea' on Wednesday.

My last day in school will be Thursday 18th December.

I have written a letter of thanks to everyone in our amazing school community which will be sent home next week.

Christmas Extravaganza: Tuesday 16th December, 10am - 12pm
We look forward to welcoming families to our Christmas Extravaganza on Tuesday. Please join us from 10am until 12pm. Those of you who have been before know what a lovely, casual and friendly event it is. We all spend the morning outside and the highlights are:

·         Miller’s Ark live mini farm

·         Brass band

·         Free grotto and Santa

·         Snow machine

·         Festive crafts and games

·         Café

·         Christmas market

·         Grand draw raffle
If you cannot attend on the day, but would like your child to visit the Christmas market, they may bring a small amount of money to spend. This is entirely optional. If you would like to help with anything from setting up a stall to making tea and coffee please contact karencollins@cedarschool.co.uk who will put you in touch with someone from the fundraising committee.

Goodbye Neil Afternoon Tea: Wednesday 17th December, 2pm - 3.30pm
Please join us between 2pm and 3.30pm to say a sad goodbye to our Headteacher Neil. Drinks and cakes will be served in the hall. You are all welcome.

Christmas Dinner: Thursday 18th December
Christmas dinner will be served in classrooms all around the school. Rooms will be decorated and we expect a lot of Christmas music. In the afternoon films, games and sensory activities will be available throughout the school.

Neil's Last Day At Cedar: Thursday 18th December

Last Day Of Term / Christmas Jumper Day: Friday 19th December
Dust off your old Christmas jumper, or get creative and decorate your own. We will be celebrating the end of another hardworking term with silly jumpers and tops.  If you have Christmas jumpers that you no longer need please send them into school before the 19th and we will redistribute them to other families. All the children will gather at the end of the day for a sing a long before we go home for the Christmas Holiday!

Children Return To School On Tuesday 6th January 2026
After the Christmas Holiday,  the children will return to school at the usual time on Tuesday 6th January 2026.  Cesia Moran will be the Acting Headteacher for the Spring and Summer Terms with Becca Farwell and Katy Leonard being Acting Co-Deputy Headteachers.

We hope that you have a good weekend and we look forward to seeing many of you at events next week,
Neil, Cesia and the whole Cedar Team
